Finally, IBM R51 turns to be Linux Ubuntu 6.10 today. Have to give up my mission booting from USB HDD as I can’t find a way to install Ubuntu to USB HDD. Also, Windows XP is not started from USB HDD.

At this state, the only choice left to me is installing Ubuntu on local HDD by downsizing the first partition (NTFS) for 10GB. Of course, everything was done after I have already backed up all important files to USB HDD.

Ubuntu is cool. But I’m suck after away from Linux for couple years.

Here, things need to be done (before Ubuntu’s perfect for me):

• Update packages. About 151 files to upgrade once you’ve finished the installation.
• Make Wireless LAN work.
• Install necessary Firefox plugins.
• Mount USB HDD.
• Practice using Open Office.
• Practice shortcut key. (Where the hell is “keyboard language switching”? This is why this post is back to English.)
• Import Email from Outlook to Thunderbird.
