Dreambox
I’m going to have a dreambox satellite receiver soon. You may wonder why should I have it? What is it about? Let me tell you then.
Dreambox is a Linux-based digital radio and digital TV (DVB) satellite (or cable) receiver with digital video recorder (DVR) functions and PC connectivity. It is implemented using IBM’s STB04500 set-top box chipset, which provides the necessary DVB functions like transport stream demultiplexing and MPEG2 decoding inexpensively. A minimalistic, GPL’d Linux-based software implementation has made the DM7000 popular with Linux programmers and TV device hackers. [...] Dreambox กลายเป็นข่าวใหญ่ทางทีวีหลายช่อง เมื่อ UBC/True Vision นำกำลังตำรวจบุกจับบริษัท SPS ข้อหาลักลอบใช้งาน และแพร่รหัสสัญญาณโดยมิชอบ (ผิดลิขสิทธิ์???) งานนี้ผู้ที่เดือดร้อนอันดับแรก คือ ตัวบริษัท SPS เอง ต้องขึ้นโรงขึ้นศาลเป็นคดีความกับ True Vision เขาไป จะออกหัวออกก้อยออกมาอย่างไร ก็คงต้องติดตามกันต่อไป ส่วนอันดับสองนั้นก็ได้แก่ผู้บริโภคตาดำๆ ที่นิยมของถูก จ่ายเงินค่ารายเดือนให้ SPS ไปแล้วก็ต้องอดดูไปตามระเบียบ นอกจากนี้แล้ว ผู้นิยมของถูกที่เป็นลูกค้า Internet ของ True ยังพลอยฟ้าพลอยฝนไปด้วย แม้ว่าจะไม่ได้ใช้บริการของ SPS ก็ตาม เพราะ True เริ่มปิดพอร์ทของ CA Server (Certificate Authority) ในโครงข่าย True แล้ว (อย่างไรก็ตาม Rangwan ขอใบ้นิดหนึ่งว่า วิธีแก้ไขหลบหลีกก็มีนะ แค่เปลี่ยนพอร์ทมาตรฐานที่มากับ CA Server ให้ไปเป็นพอร์ททั่วๆ ไป เช่น HTTP, SMTP, POP3, IMAP, … แค่นี้ก็ตามปิดกันยากแล้ว — เอิ่ม งานนี้ต้องไปคุยกับ CA server เถื่อนที่ใช้บริการกันเอาเองนะจ๊ะ) [...]
